Final Edit so far

So far the final edit is going smoothly. We now have 2 minutes 20 second of footage edited and we are pleased ith our progress. We began by editing backgrounds together about two layers at a time. The backgrounds were then converted into Quicktime movies and imported back into FinalCut. The purpose of this was to cut down the likelihood of having to render and re-render footage that we have already finished editing.

We are now lipsyncing our video with the three seperate performances. We have green screened all of them as well as adding effects such as colour correcting, blurred focas and reframing.

We've edited for probably around 10 of 11 hours on the final edit (rendering hasn't been too bad).

Roughcut

This is the basic introduction to our song. We had edited in some lip-syncing too but this was TAKING TOO LONG TO RENDER! So this is all we have... :[

We do like this bit though and it displays the basic premise of the rest of the video.

Green screening

During editing for our rough cut, we came to the painfully realistic conclusion that rendering should be removed from software.
It is a waste of all our time and effort.
We are NOT amused!

Rough Cut

We have finished all the shooting for our music video. The scenes we have got are of a rave, four people dancing alone, a man in a chicken siut on his own and we also have two shots of people lipsyncing one from a profile and the other from a close portrait shot. All shots have used the green screen apart from the chasing scenes.

The backgrounds that we have used have mostly been made by iStopmotion. These are of rubber ducks moving across the screen in two different types of shots. We also used origami humming birds which moved across the shot. We will also be using a shot in which a group of people are being chased and chasing a man in a chicken suit.

With all our shots and backgrounds collected and uploaded to FinalCut we started to place them in the correct order in which we wanted them to come up in the video. After green screening all of our shots onto the backgrounds.

Things remaining:
smashing egg
mini eggs
still (or almost still) of ducks
rave scene
lypsyncers 1, 2 and 3
plus a plain background
...

Hopefully we'll get this done by Wednesday...

Layers

This is an example of some of our layers:

Origami Humming birds:

We have also fimed the moving parts of the duck layer.

As well as stop motion we have begun our other footage. We have filmed canted angle and tripod mounted shots of the chicken dancing alone as well as the four dancers we want to use to open then video. This footage has been uploaded to Final Cut and partially edited. It was all shot in the green room.

This monday we aim to shoot the rave scene, again in the green room... It's going to be interesting to see how many people you can fit in a room that size...
